Preliminary Task
The idea of the prelim task was to gain experience of using cameras, also it was to learn how to use the cameras practically to do 180 degree rule, shot reverse shot, continuity and match on action. The overall prelim task was for me to take multiple shot recordings of someone walking through the door, and catch them coming back through the other side, then for someone walking towards a table and then sitting down, finally recoridng a shot reverse shot of two people speaking. I did this so i could get practise before filming my final piece.
To plan this prelim we had to draw out a story board showing each stage of recording and where the camera will be, this is so we knew what to do when we came ot recording and didnt get muddled up. we also had to do this so we we could get the correct 180 dregree rule. I also needed to make sure i knew who my characters where going to be and who would do what. When it came to filming I found it much easier as i knew what was going to happen and where i had to be at each stage or recoridng. When i was filming i had to bear in mind where i was standing at each stage because otherwise the 180 degree rule would be wrong and it could confuse viewers.
When it came to editing this piece of work I found it particularly easy, this is because we used a clear programme called Final Cut Pro. Firstly i took the clips i had recorded and downloads them onto the mac and into Final Cut Pro, next I selected the correct clips and cut them to the right section of time to be able to interlink them all, so it looked smooth throughout the film. I then went through the film to see if i needed any affects in it to make it flow better. However whilst using Final Cut Pro to edit, i found it hard to make sure that the clips were at the correct length to make it flow perfectly throughout the whole film, to get over this, I took more time to go through each clip, by pressing the i and the o on the keyboard to cut my shots and make them them the correct size to fit into my film clip. I also added a dissolve tranisition, this helped it look more in sync.
