HOW DID I ATTRACT/ADDRESS MY AUDIENCE?
I catered for my target audience in many ways; this is
through, mise en scene, actors, and characters, name of film and action and
enigma codes.
Firstly I’ve aimed my film around my target audience of males
aged 15 to 40; this is good because it allows me to focus on features within my
film that will interest my target audience. To make my mise en scene fit my
male audience, I used props such as; Guns, knives, cars. These props are all
male orientated; also from my research of other films I found that most males
enjoyed the violence and crime. The Majority of my actors in my film are male,
this will help my target audience relate to them easier and be able to
understand them in a more sufficient way. My characters are dressed in
fashionable clothing, preferably dark colours, this relates to the younger part
of my target audiences as they are usually the ones that interested in crime
and gangs. The action codes attract my audience because it helps make the
storyline clearer and more understandable, this will draw the audience in. My enigma codes set questions for my audience
that they will then wish to discover, therefore they will hen want to carry on
watching the film to then let them be revealed.

Preliminary Task
The idea of the prelim task was to gain experience of using cameras, also it was to learn how to use the cameras practically to do 180 degree rule, shot reverse shot, continuity and match on action. The overall prelim task was for me to take multiple shot recordings of someone walking through the door, and catch them coming back through the other side, then for someone walking towards a table and then sitting down, finally recoridng a shot reverse shot of two people speaking. I did this so i could get practise before filming my final piece.
To plan this prelim we had to draw out a story board showing each stage of recording and where the camera will be, this is so we knew what to do when we came ot recording and didnt get muddled up. we also had to do this so we we could get the correct 180 dregree rule. I also needed to make sure i knew who my characters where going to be and who would do what. When it came to filming I found it much easier as i knew what was going to happen and where i had to be at each stage or recoridng. When i was filming i had to bear in mind where i was standing at each stage because otherwise the 180 degree rule would be wrong and it could confuse viewers.
When it came to editing this piece of work I found it particularly easy, this is because we used a clear programme called Final Cut Pro. Firstly i took the clips i had recorded and downloads them onto the mac and into Final Cut Pro, next I selected the correct clips and cut them to the right section of time to be able to interlink them all, so it looked smooth throughout the film. I then went through the film to see if i needed any affects in it to make it flow better. However whilst using Final Cut Pro to edit, i found it hard to make sure that the clips were at the correct length to make it flow perfectly throughout the whole film, to get over this, I took more time to go through each clip, by pressing the i and the o on the keyboard to cut my shots and make them them the correct size to fit into my film clip. I also added a dissolve tranisition, this helped it look more in sync.

question 3 evaluation
Evaluation - Question 3
WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION MIGHT DISTRIBUTE
YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY?
WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION MIGHT DISTRIBUTE
YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY?
My film 'Escape Route' was made with a small cast of 22 people, this film is a British Independent. My film is an Independent because it is produced outside the major studio, this means that my company 'Major Meyer' doesn't produce a film on regular basis. My film is an action/thriller, although I have spent minimum money, If I was to merge my company with an conglomerate I think it would be Universal or a company like this as they usually distribute action, thriller or adventure films for a 40% stake in the film.
As my film is low budget I could save more by distributing my film using social media, for example; Facebook, Twitter, Youtube. I would do this using 'Major Meyer's' account as it would then promote my company as well as the film. In addition to this it will not cost any money as it can cost if I put my advertisement on specific areas of a social networking site. This will also help promoting my film to my target audience, as young males tend to use social networking sites, however it can also exceed this target and create a mass audience. I would upload teaser videos and teaser posters my accounts which would then be viewed by a mass audience. Facebook has over 650 million users, twitter has over 241 million users and youtube has 4 billion videos that are viewed each day. These statistics will hopefully have a positive impact on my increase in audience.

AUDIENCE FEEDBACK
ON SECOND DRAFT:
GEORGIA 17: I think this has improved from your first draft, and you have got some more creative ideas into your plot which will make your opening more interesting.
MEGAN 17: I think the montage idea will be really creative and help set a solid action code to help the auidence understand the problem within the narrative. However i think you could do something within the sequence to help suggest why Ronnie is going to prison to help make it extra clear for the audience.
ROB 23: I like the action and thrill throughout the shots it will emphasis the tension within the opening scene. The montage will make the film more atmospheric and realistic. I think you could also add a shot or perform an action code that will resemble the reason why this has all happened.
Second Draft
This is my final draft, I have adjusted it to fit the needs of all of my viewers and target audience. One of the main things I have changed is the middle of opening sequence. I have changed from a flowing camera shot to a montage of clips that represent an action code and give a clearer idea of what has happened. This will also show the audience a Ronnies memories. The montage will inclue clips from when the police turned up at Ronnie's house and when Ronnie got arrested in his own home, it will also show's Ronnie'ss child crying at the door, this will cause tension and emotion to flow within the audience. I am also going to add another scene at the end that is not currently in this draft, this will include Ronnie waking upwith a gasp in a prison bed, next there is a shot wall of his prison cell, showing news paper articles of the murder.

These images are the logo and production company title I am going to use at the beggining of my film openeing.' Major Meyer Productions' is going to be my production company that will be shown at the beggining. I created this Logo and Title usng Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, I used different techniques to come up with each idea, this included reducing opacity, cutting out shapes, experimenting with different colours and changing fonts. This will help my production company be recognisable and be shown as proffesional. Using these in my film opening will create a realistic effect and help my film be seen as more realistic.

Audience feedback
On first Draft
After asking people about my first story board idea I recieved mxed feedback.
Male 18: i like the way you have done each clip to build up tension and suspence. This will lead on to be a really good story line and will grab peoples attention. There is also use of guns and violence so it meets your target audience
Male 44: I think that when you show the man with the gun you should make it more tense by doing a close up of the man slowly moving down to the gun this can cause more suspence as us as the audience do not know what were waiting for. It makes the audience feel like the movie is going to be action packed which suits your target audience and will make them want to watch on.
Female 17 (media student) : I think your shots set the narrative clearly, and gives a clear idea on what the stroy line will be about. The violence and crime used fits your target audicene and your genre. Your shot types are creative and best for the shot its self. However i think with some shots you can compose them in a different way to make them more frightning and dramatic. I also think you should use some tracking movement in the part where he is getting taken away.

1st
Story Board Draft
How technical codes are used:
Firstly editing is used, this is because there is no action in this part. The Production company is being presented in the first image, the words are going to fade in slowly, after 4 seconds it will then fade out. Next we see an establishing shot from a POV angle, this is showing the hectic busy town centre from Ronnies point of view. Next we have a close up of Ronnies eye, which then cuts to a eyeline match to the gun man. A mid shot of the gun man, the camera then pans around to face down at the town to show the gun mans POV. Editing is then used to fade out to a black screen as we hear a loud gun sound, I will do this by using an editing program on the computer i will be using to collaborate my film together. The camera fades back in from black slowly to show Ronnie hiding behind a wall looking relieved but confused, this is when his cast name is presented at the bottom of the screen 'Steve Offord', it slides in and slides back out . The camera cuts out instantly to blackness, the letters ESCAPE ROUTE appare on the screen one by one, i will do this using a a program on the computer. A mid shot then occurs with high key lighting showing Ronnie sitting on the sofa enjoying his life. Next there is a full body shot of the the blurred out door showing two men standing there banging on the door shouting. Over the shoulder shot then shows them charging in and walking towards Ronnie, this is fast pace editing to cause a more dramatic effect to the situation. We track them as the pull Ronnie up and arrest him and drag him out of the house whilst he was trying to wrestle them off. The camera cuts to a long shot of Ronnies Wife and child, at this shot at the bottom of the screen these characters names will slide it at the bottom. Whilst this is happeneing there will be a tense emotional sound track. Next we have a close up of Ronnies face in the car whilst it is driving away. Finally there is a close up shot of Ronnies eyes as he gasps and jumps up in surprise. The camera the pans across his wall showing news paper articles about the murder that he apparently he commited.

Full synopsis
of my film idea
Ronnie clyde has had a difficult past, involved in violence, crime, and dealt with the toughest gangster criminals going since a young age. However after finding the love of his life in a recovery camp both of their world's changed for the better. Both settles down in a lovely house with great jobs, and one young beautiful daughter. Despite having changed his life around, the police will always have it in for Clyde and will never let his criminal past go.
It was a normal day Ronnie was walking through the town centre to buy his little girl a birthday present, it's the day that the prime minister makes an appearance in the town square to present a speech. Whilst Clyde is walking through the town he spots some irregular movement up on the malls roof top. He knows that something is about to happen.
He catches the gun mans eye, they glance deeply at each other, the gun man turns away. BANG. A shot has been fired, we don't know who at or why. Everyone instantly fell to the ground, apart from Clyde who managed to crawl his way through the crowd to find himself tightly attached to a wall just about being able to look round to see the gun men. They had gone from the balcony, completely disappeared. Ronnie had this mind all day thinking why and who, and how he recognized them. He finally got home, and relaxed with his family watching the news about what had happened in the town centre today, however it still never left his mind who he saw and how he knew them.
He carried on sitting peacefully until a stampede of armed police men came crashing into their loving home causing floods of emotions to run through the family and their minds. screaming for Ronnie as the police drag him away from his family and arrest him with the murder of the Prime Minister in todays shooting. But how? But why? His family left screaming in worry and concern, they knew it could not be true.
He awoke with a sudden fright in his prison cell. it was all a flash back from when he got arrested. We see his cell wall full of newspaper articles of his arrest and the shooting. We then a piece of paper that shows an escape route to get out of prison. Ronnie knows he didn't do this and he will do anything and everything he can to get out and find the person that did.

My Final Idea And Why
I have decided to choose my second synopsis idea for my final film.
I have chosen this idea because of the type of story line, the idea of this film is for it to not be confusing and sophisticated, it is designed to be action packed and full of adventure and violence, ideal for men. Stereotypically woman are more engaged to typical woman power films involving a long sophisticated story line that doesn't involve much violence, this is what my other synopsis idea's included. However men are stereotypically presented to loose interest in confusing long story lines and are traditionally said to love violent, gory action films.
In my research I found that men aged 15-40 are the usual target audience for my genre of film. Most of the films i researched within my genre had male main characters and not many female characters at all, therefore this matches my film idea with having majority male characters. Also in the films i researched i discovered that the films always had a typical energy chase involved, this interlinks with my idea about having a continuous war/chase and binary opposition between the good 'guy' and the bad 'guy'.
